Also you may hear this sound while the chin is sitting on a board feeling lonely respectively longing for a friend to play with.

The Decoy Sound
A chin always makes use of the decoy sound, if it wants to have something or if it looks for something. Par example, it might beg for a snack or it would like to get out of the cage. ( As soon as I step in front of the cage, my chins always want to get out instantly! :-)) lock.wav

My chins may have a daily run in the kitchen. Then they always examine everything what is chewable (like wallpapers, cartons or cables). Often it happens, that one chin is quietly sitting in one edge chewing on something interesting while the other one feels lonely and concerned, doesn't know where its companion sits around. Then the lonely one reacts with a short and concerned sound
